About our Leather
About our Products:
Our motto is: 'Individually Handcrafted -- designed to last a lifetime.'
Take for example our children's cases. These should not be considered cheap
toys,
but high-quality tools that will last for many years to come. Our products
are handcrafted with love using high quality materials (not cheap vinyl).
As another example: Other companies "melt together" the edges of
their plastic products, and such seams start to come apart after only a couple
months. However even our plastic products are individually sewn using high-quality
thread.
(1) We do not mass-produce our products.
(2) All of our products are handcrafted using the
highest quality materials.
Please read what others have said on the various product pages
under "product review." Furthermore, there are 1000s of positive remarks
our sister store: eBay
ministry_ideaz. As you can see from the remarks, we rarely
have a dissatisfied customer.
Here are just a couple of the literally 1000s of positive remarks our customers
have sent us in their emails and thank you cards:
"Thank you! The workmanship so far has surpassed anything that I have seen
in recent years at a similar cost level. Thank you." R. R., California
"We are very pleased with the covers, and plan to do business again. I like
giving gifts to the friends, your merchandise is ideal." A. F., Ohio
About our Leather:
One customer described ours as "soft glove leather," such
as the leather generally used to make soft lady's gloves. We use only the finest
genuine top grade cowhide obtainable. Each hide is carefully inspected
to make sure there
are minimum scars and flaws which occur naturally
in all leather. Leather colors and textures may vary slightly. Our leather
covers often outlast the life span of the books they cover. Since leather is
animal skin and not manmade, evidence of some minor creases or markings may
be evident. This adds to the
beauty of leather and confirms that it is genuine. Please do not misconstrue
these natural markings as imperfections.
Regarding the leather grades: We have four colors of leather and in
two grades. The colors are black, maroon, natural and brown. The grades are
classified as "elegant" and "rustic". The elegant leather is
more delicate and very much preferred by our lady customers. The rustic leather
is more manly, robust and usually preferred by our male customers, although many
of the ladies like it too. For smaller items such as Bible covers, they come in
the "maroon elegant", "black elegant", "brown
rustic" and "natural rustic". To compare the "brown
rustic" to the "black elegant" is like comparing apples to
oranges. It is a totally different "look". The elegant leather is in
NO way "inferior" to the rustic. In fact it actually has to go through
a lot MORE processing to get that elegant look. Of course, everyone's taste is
different. Some prefer the "rustic look" and may think that the
"elegant look" looks "cheap". On the other hand, most of our
lady customers prefer the "elegant look" and would call the
"rustic look" "cheap-looking". It's all the point of view.
For larger items, such as briefcases we always do these in the
"rustic" leather. This is because the "elegant" leather is
not robust enough for a larger product.
Leather care: We are confident that you will be very pleased with your new luxurious leather
book/Bible cover, and want to help assure that it gives you year after year
of good service. Leather is by far, the finest and longest-lasting material
available for books, and we only use the finest garment-quality leather obtainable
imported from Pasto, Colombia. No other material is as durable, as convenient and
as easy to care for as leather. During the handcrafting of this product, our
artisans took special care to preserve and enhance the elegance of its high
quality leather. Their pride is reflected in a cover designed to provide beauty
and endure for years to come. For your new cover to last, you must take pride
in its care and treat it with the same respect as the craftsman who created
it. Avoid storing your leather cover in hot, dry areas (such as in your car
window) or in cold, damp places.
Avoid contact with oils and solvents. Do not dry clean. When cleaning, never
soak it in water or apply water directly to it. Instead, use glycerin soap
on a clean sponge to wipe the leather. Rinse the sponge often in lukewarm water.
Change your rinse water frequently. We recommend that you do not oil the leather.
Some time ago Awake! magazine reported that the best leather treatment is natural
hand oil. Where can you buy this? You don't have to, you produce it naturally!
So, be sure to use your Bible and publications on a regular basis and this
will prevent them from drying out and cracking. Please note: Natural markings
such as variations in grain, wrinkles, cleanly healed scars, insect bites or
patterns of original hair follicles document the animal’s life and testify to
the leather’s authenticity.
Color variations: Please
note: Color variations within our acceptable range are normal. This is
proof that genuine cowhide leather has been used. With leatherette (i.e.
vinyl) it is easy to always have exactly the same tone. However
with genuine leather, this is not possible. We try our best to keep
products the same tone, but cannot guarantee this. As an example, please
see the differences in tone of the "rustic brown" leather shown
to the right.
Design variations: Please note that as noted above our leather and leatherette products aren’t manufactured by robots. An artisan individually handcrafts each one and no two will ever be exactly alike. The differences in the “deepness” of certain decorations such as the tetragrammaton is normal and not considered a defect. |
